“Victory View” Guest House

(Latitude: 34.0483° S – Longitude: 22.2205° E)

We recently reached an important milestone in our long-range planning by acquiring the Victory View Guest House at Great Brak River Village in the Western Cape Province. Historically, our hunting operation has been based in the Limpopo Province. However, in 2017 we expanded our hunting operation into the Western Cape Province when we opened our new Lidikwe Base Camp. The hunting is fantastic in the Western Cape, but there also is so much more to do here for non-hunting family members as well as clients simply interested in touring, photography, sight-seeing and all the many cultural wonders characteristic of the Western Cape. In order to offer clients these added opportunities we wanted to secure a guest house location that would make the travel to enjoy these activities so much easier, and we feel we have done it with the acquisition of the Victory View Guest House.

Victory View House
Victory View Guest House consists of 5000 square feet on two levels. There are 5 suites on the upper level and 2 suites on the lower level. The upper level also contains a family room, as well as a luxurious “honey moon” suite with jacuzzi. Each of the 7 rooms has its own private bath. All of the rooms have 180-degree views of the Indian Ocean. Views of the beautiful Outeniqua Mountains (“Mountain of the Star) may be enjoyed from the other side of the Guest House. We will be performing significant upgrades to the property in the next few months (interior, as well as exterior landscaping), but will be preserving the unique yellow wood floors and ceiling as well as the Namibian sandstone exterior. Yellow wood (Podocarpus latifolius) is an evergreen tree that has been declared the national tree of South Africa and is now protected. The tree is found in the Outeniqua Mountains proximate to the Guest House.

The Garden Route is a popular and scenic stretch of the south-eastern coast of South Africa. It stretches from Mossel Bay in the Western Cape to the Storms River in the extreme western reach of the neighboring Eastern Cape. The name comes from the verdant and ecologically diverse vegetation encountered here and the numerous lagoons and lakes dotted along the coast. Tourists from all over the world come to visit.

Great Brak River Village nestles in a perfect Garden Route setting situated midway between George, the largest municipality, (30 km) and Mossel Bay (27 km). Sweeping panoramic views complement the outstanding characteristics of this jewel of the Western Cape. The beautiful, unspoiled beaches in the area, and the lagoon, offer safe swimming. The presence of Southern Right Whales and other whales from May through November is one of the town’s well-known attractions.

The river that divides the village is rich in marine life while its wooded banks offer excellent opportunities for bird watching. Follow the circular route through the village and experience the history and culture of years gone by. It is a little gem of a town situated at the confluence of the Great Brak River and the Indian Ocean on the Garden Route. It offers the scenic beauty of the majestic Outeniqua Mountains and the azure blue sea, rolling green hills and pastures, rich agriculture and culture. The community is alive with cultural activities, musical events and art in all its forms. It’s a tourist’s paradise.

We expect to have the renovations completed in advance of the 2018 safari season. We hope you will visit us and experience some real Western Cape hospitality.
